Please prepare a comedic monologue of your choice, 60-90 seconds duration. You may be asked to cold read at auditions as well.

In “The Mouse That Roared”, the tiny nation of Duchy of Fenwick, faces near bankruptcy, so naturally, they declare war on the United States of America to gain international attention and leverage for a better trade deal, leading to a hilariously absurd situation.
This comedic tale has been told in novel, film, and stage for several decades! Come see what this tiny country does and laugh along the way!

Gloriana – Lead. Bright, decisive, bold. Loves her country, in love with Tully. Must have a powerful stage presence. Female 18-29
Count Mountjoy – Lead. Nobleman/aristocrat, posh, represents the nobility in Gloriana’s court. Male 40+
David Benter – Lead. A “man of the people”. A more humble representative in the court. Male 30+
Professor Kokintz – Lead. An eccentric and rather preoccupied professor/scientist. A little bit wise, a little bit bizarre. Male 35+
General Snippet – Lead. US General, formal and to the letter, straight backed, dedicated. Comically severe. Male 40+
WACs: Debbie and Jill – Lead. Daughters of General Snippet, young but stern, they follow their orders to the letter, in a comical way. Strong presence and comedic timing needed. Female 14+
President – Featured. Imposing, important, and worried. Male 45+

Ann – Ensemble. A local girl, her job is stomping on grapes. Female 14+
Mrs. Wilkens – Ensemble. Secretary to President. Female 20+
